The area abounds in a rich variety of sub tropical forest plants and trees. The Soutpansberg Mountain is also home to a very rare Mystasidium orchid, as well as bush veld and arid area species. Visitors can also take time to investigate the fascinating historical aspects of the region's early inhabitants.
Your host the Duke of Atholl, is an experienced hiker, mountain biker and off road motorcyclist and has an intimate knowledge of the area, can advise you on routes or will gladly be your guide if necessary.

This beautifully appointed, thatched cottage was designed around the traditional "hartbees huisie" and evokes in you a serene sense of comfort as you enjoy the perfect proportions of the spaces inside.
Surrounded by an expanse of beautiful gardens, it is also home to dozens of indigenous bird species and lucky visitors will spot the resident bush-baby, occasional red duiker, bush buck and porcupine.
Catering for overnight travelers and weekenders alike, the peace and quiet and decadently comfy beds will have you feeling fresh and ready for your next adventure.
The cottage has 3 bedrooms, a double room, two-bed room and a loft room also with two beds, accommodating 6 self catering guests. The kitchen is also adequately equipped. There is also a outdoor braai.
